BJP MP stays away from PM rally

PANIPAT: Karnal BJP MP Ashwni Kumar Chopra on Thursday stayed away from the 'Beti Bacho Beti Padhao' rally addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi here, saying that no formal invitation was sent to him and he was deliberately kept away from the preparations for the rally in violation of the protocol.
Speaking to TOI, Ashwani Chopra said, "I got only a VIP pass and that too was sent to my Karnal office." He said when he offered to oversee the preparations for the rally, the state government gave him a cold shoulder."I was told that though I had been allowed to attend the rally, I could not sit with the Prime Minister on the stage and that I would have to sit in the row meant for BJP leaders," he said.
Chopra said, "It was a great honour that the Prime Minister had decided to hold the "Beti Bacho Beti Padhao' rally in my constituency, but it is quite unfortunate that I could not attend it."
